Practice in the field of human rights - visit to Valjevo

Thanks to the support of Open Society Institute from Budapest Network Committee for Human Rights in Serbia CHRIS, realises one-year project "Practice in the field of human rights ". In the implementation of this project research is carried out on the problems of further social integration of Roma national minority in Serbia. Expert associate of Network CHRIS Alla Leukavets in cooperation with a lawyer from Nis Milan Krstev had several meetings with representatives of local authorities, NGOs and educational assistant in Valjevo.

Meeting with Mr Vladimir Panic, associate for protection and rights realization of national minorities and ethnic groups, cross-sectoral and inter-institutional cooperation was held in the premises of the City Administration for social affairs, finance, inspection and property and legal affairs. Discussions was held on implementation of local action plans on education of Roma from 2006. and on the subject Decade of Roma. The second meeting with Mr. Dejan Marinkovic from society "Rom" from Valjevo had a similar theme, it was discussed on the activities of the society "Rom" and with what problems organization he represents daily encounters.

Meeting with Mr. Dusan Jovanovic, a pedagogical assistant, was held at the premises of Primary School "Sestre Ilic"in Valjevo, where they discussed the role of pedagogical assistants and the number of assistants in the area of Valjevo. The last meeting for the visit to Valjevo was held with Ms. Radmila Vasic, representative of the Roma Centre for Democracy Valjevo. As a representative of the Centre she presented the agenda of her organization and results of implementation of local action plan.
