SCHOOL OF CIVIC SOCIETY
Negotin, December 2001 – March 2002.

Project SCHOOL OF CIVIC SOCIETY was carried out at the end of year 2001 and beginning of 2002, with financial support of the Fund for an Open Society from Belgrade. The aim was education of people who were already engaged in certain nongovernmental organizations, but also of those people who wanted to become activists in NGO sector. In that way, the nucleus of future civic society promoters in our surroundings is made.
Depending on the topic, these lectures were attended by 15 to 25 participants, but through the media, rest of the citizens could inform themselves about the contents. Within this School, 22 topics were presented: Human rights, Conscientious objection, Multiethnic environment and tolerance, Is there a Vlach question?, Contemporary diseases – AIDS, Venereal diseases – Syphilis, Role of the NGO in the civic society development, Communication with media (public), Freedom of speech, Free elections, Democracy in politics, Politics as profession, Sexual freedom, Abuse of women, Religious freedom, Educational reform, Right on careless childhood, Drug abuse, Local self-governance and human rights, Unions, Economics and politics, and Serbia and surroundings – return to Europe.
