Serbia in the EU – What’s in It for Me, What’s in It for Negotin and Kladovo

Committee for Human Rights Negotin has participated realization of project entitled „Serbia in the EU, What’s In It for Me, What’s In It for My City?“, supported by Fund for an Open Society (FOS) and by the Institute for Sustainable Communities (ISC), in the period from March 26th until May 12th, 2008. The project involved organizing a number of public debates i.e. interactive panels in over 80 towns by over 50 nongovernmental organizations in Serbia. Project goal was drawing near of the European Union to Serbia and promoting the idea of acceding of Serbia in EU, and also getting citizens acquainted to possibilities that would be accessible to them at local level by Serbia’s inclusion into European integration. Panels were moderated by experts from various areas relevant for this topic. The idea was to gather as much as possible citizens of local community, if possible from different social spheres and include them into active discussion on chosen topic for a specific panel. Within this project the Committee for Human Rights Negotin has organized 6 panels in total, 4 in Negotin and 2 in Kladovo (panel’s schedule). Street actions and performances were also organized, with the aim of promoting the project.
